GAY AWARENESS PANEL PISSES OFF ASSHOLES

Generally speaking the Chicagoland area is a fairly liberal as a whole, with one glaring omission: the North Shore. Just north of Chicago this area comprises some of the wealthiest neighborhoods anywhere in the US. Not surprisingly it is also an island of Republican assholes. Not all of them mind you, but there are a lot.

Deerfield High School is located in the epicenter of the North Shore, and by all accounts is a well run school. Every year incoming freshman have to take an advisory class to help them adjust to high school life. On one of class days a panel comprised of 4 homosexual and 3 heterosexual students discuss their personal high school experiences. Seems harmless right? Not to Lora Sue Hauser, who founded an organization "North Shore Student Advocacy" whose sole aim to do remove the panel from the advisory class.

It seems the heterosexual students and their parents who deem homosexuality to be a deviant lifestyle are feeling victimized by their more liberal minded peers. Lora Sue Hauser is also the mouthpiece for the Illinois Family Institute, itself an offshoot of the notorious pig-fuckers known as the Focus on the Family. It seems their new tactic is to intimidate school boards to remove any all homosexual positive initiatives because they fear all the perfectly straight kids will start "gaying it up" (my quotation marks).

Here's my favorite quote from the article: "The school makes heterosexuality and homosexuality equivalent, and our country is deeply divided on that," said Hauser, who said dozens of parents belong to the advocacy group but fear they will be labeled as haters or religious fanatics if they speak out.

This pissed me off so much that I was compelled to write a letter to this woman, (that and work was slow this morning). I decided to bite my tongue and not go on a viscous tirade with the hope that she's write me back. Here's the letter:

Mrs. Lora Sue Hauser
IFI School Advisor
799 Roosevelt Rd. Suite 3-208
Glen Ellyn , Illinois 60137

Mrs. Hauser,

This is likely one of many e-mails you are going to receive in regards to the article from today's Chicago Tribune titled "Gay awareness panel roils school".

First, I want to state that I am not here to question or alter your religious convictions. This is the United States of America where everyone is free to engage in the spiritual practices of their choice. However, in America there is separation of church and state and seeing that Deerfield High School is a publicly funded educational institution, the administrators have a responsibility to make their decisions on what is best for the student's education, independent of any political or religious beliefs.

When a student is a victim of harassment because of their religion, ethnicity or sexuality it prevents them from focusing on their education. From what I gather the intentions of this panel is not condone or promote certain personal "behavior", but rather eliminate what could be a serious distraction from the task at hand, ( i.e. learning).

You are quoted as saying "The school makes heterosexuality and homosexuality equivalent, and our country is deeply divided on that…" That's a very diplomatic way of saying that homosexuals are second class citizens in our society, a concept which you clearly agree with. Of course that's not surprising since you believe that being gay is a behavior; something that someone consciously chooses to be.

The reality of the situation is that there are students at Deerfield High School that identify themselves as homosexual and the intention of the panel is clearly to prevent peer on peer violence, whether it takes a physical or verbal form.

You're attempt to cast parents that share your viewpoint as being the real victims in this situation is nothing short of appalling.

As the article clearly states, any parent who does not want their child to be exposed to the discussion of the panel can opt out, which is perfectly acceptable. To deny the majority of the students of a potentially positive experience is simply shameful.

Most Sincerely,
[Name omitted for blog]

Hopefully she'll write me back, if so, I'll post it...

Excellent letter!! I'm sure you had to bite your tongue several times to prevent what you'd really like to tell this bigot. Good Job!

Where is the separation of church and state found in the US Constitution?

Hint: It isn't.

One can always tell a man's intelligence by his vocabulary. Yours ranks of ignorance and hatred. I pray the LORD will lead you to repent of your hatred for those whose values are different from yours.

You do realize how poorly your language reflects on your judgment and intelligence? It really throws into question everything you say.

I would say you are off when you state that the North Shore is the one glaring admission of conservatism in Chicagoland. Actually Most of the collar counties lean for conservative as well.

Good luck though, I am sure someone will buy your dishonest, and profanity laden message.

beh.. typos... oh well in a hurry haha. To posters or "posers" above. It is important that we gays do not use violence to solve problem but it is also important to remember it is ok to impress some anger. They push you, you push back or get stomped. It is that simple. It is a freaking person blog for god's sake. If you don't like to read what you see go somewhere else, there is a gazillion blogs out there. It is a mutual interest that someone shares something that is true to themselves on a god damn internet. So shut your pie hole and stop judging. I don't know, self righteous people just make me angry.

Dude where did you get all these readers. No wonder mificus deleted his blog.

Thanks Hamilton. And I have no fucking idea where all these people came from.

First I want to say thank you for posting your opposing comments, it merely reinforces my attitude that the religious right despises homos like me.

Secondly, if you don't like my "language" don't read my fucking blog.

Thirdly, although I may disagree with the right wingers out there I do not hate them, nor would I ever advocate violence as a means of expressing my viewpoint.
