YOU KNOW ME
Among the various crushes I had on guys in high school, one has the dubious distinction of having been employed to "act" on the long running Soap Opera, "Days of Our Life". Kyle Brandt was also on the Chicago season of "The Real World" which alone afforded me many a moment of laughter.
Keep that I never knew KB on a first name basis, but several of my elder high school friends did, and while the females I knew proclaimed their desire to have his baby, I kept my mouth shut and included him in my Secret Fantasy World. Bottom line: he was one of my first major gay crushes.
I still vividly remember the sight of him in his football uniform...(sigh), or just casually walking without effort, yet ever so stud-like, down the hall going to or from class. One year he dressed up like a Hippy for Halloween, and although the tie-dyed t-shirt and floppy hat were a lame approximation of a "Hippy" I remember he still looked smokin' HOT (amazing ass/blue eyes).
After high school various rumors spread that he had a secret gay life, and although I totally think they were bullshit, it had the effect of adding gasoline to an existing fire. The fact the he played ball in college did nothing to temper my fantasies....and then he was cast on "The Real World" and my desire promptly extinguished itself.
And it's not because he changed, he was still Kyle, but it's fucking bizarre "getting to know" someone you fantasized about via reality television. Watching this guy hook up with, or piss off the female cast-mates was akin to a mild out of body experience. Ever imagine seeing a crush shirtless (finally!) but on MTV? Exactly!
Then came the "Days of Our Lives" years, which apparently are still in effect. Honestly, I had never seen a clip of him on this show until today, while bored at home I was prompted by a conversation with an old friend (and KB's one time fellow student) to Google/YouTube him. What I found...was hilarious, to say the least.
Keep in mind I am not here to flame his acting abilities, you can be the judge of that for yourself, this is just hysterical in terms of my context. I hereby present to you:

YACHT ROCK EPISODE 1: WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES
The hilarity of this video very well might be lost on those of you who were not alive (or just very young) when Reagan was in office, but for those of you that were, well, buckle up! A few weeks ago my brother sent me a link to this and I never watched it, until, that is, on Sunday after the Bears game when he and his buddies and I were sufficiently drunk. However, even sober this is damn funny. The guy that plays Micheal McDonald is the shit! Also, my brother really wants me to be Darryl Oates for Halloween, and I just might do it too...
