BAND OF HORSES

Last month my main musical benefactor turned me on to a band called Band of Horses. They've been around for awhile, and though I had heard of them, I was totally unfamiliar with their music. Having obtained their two most recent albums, I must admit that I am a huge fan of this band. In fact, I have a ticket to their show next month at Metro - very excited about that. Anyways, this first song is something like a single from their previous album "Everything All the Time", and it matches my current mood. Plus, I think this is just a cool video. The title of the song is "The Funeral".

I'm coming up only to hold you under
I'm coming up only to show you wrong
And to know you is hard and we wonder
To know you all wrong, we were

Really too late to call, so we wait for
Morning to wake you; it's all we got
To know me as hardly golden
Is to know me all wrong, they were

At every occasion I'll be ready for a funeral
At every occasion once more is called a funeral
Every occasion I'm ready for the funeral
At every occasion one brilliant day funeral

I'm coming up only to show you down for
I'm coming up only to show you wrong
To the outside, the dead leaves, they all blow (alive is very poetic)
For'e (before) they died had trees to hang their hope

At every occasion I'll be ready for the funeral
At every occasion once more is called the funeral
At every occasion I'm ready for the funeral
At every occasion one brilliant day funeral

There isn't much that I could find on YouTube in regards to songs off their most recent album, "Cease to Begin", however this is a solid live version of "Is There a Ghost". Though simple in structure, the mood and pacing of the song ring true to these ears.

I could sleep
I could sleep
I could sleep
I could sleep
when I lived alone
Is there a ghost in my house?

I could sleep
I could sleep
I could sleep
I could sleep
when I lived alone
Is there a ghost in my house?
when I lived alone
Is there a ghost in my house?
my house...

I could sleep
I could sleep
I could sleep
I could sleep
when I lived alone
Is there a ghost in my house?
when I lived alone
Is there a ghost in my house?
Is There A Ghost
my house...

I could sleep
I could sleep
I could sleep
I could sleep
when I lived alone
Is there a ghost in my house?
when I lived alone
Is there a ghost in my house?
my house...

At this point I am almost afraid of burning myself out on these guys, but I tend to do that with new bands that I really dig. Oh well.

Bugger. I couldn't listen to either. My computer doesn't always like YouTube... it has its moments of point blank refusing to open the embeded vids. I'll have to come back... the lyrics sound sweet though.
