ABOUT MONDAY NIGHT

So after my experience at work on Monday, I still found the energy hang out with my old friend from high school that I mentioned in a previous blog. M, as I'll refer to her and I have a bit of a history dating back to my freshman year of high school. For reasons still not fully explained, she immediately took a liking to me and asked me out a few times to which my reply was always to blush and decline. We lost touch after our senior year, only running into each randomly here and there. Anyways, just a few months ago she tracked me down on MySpace and although I knew shew had come out and I added her as one of my friends we really haven't had much if any contact. She knew through mutual friends that I had also come out and seemed eager to meet up. Well, we finally made plans to hang out after work on Monday night and she and her girl came to the city and picked me up. We went to a bar in Boystown and although it was karaoke night and the eye candy was lacking (after all, much of Chicago was still nursing hangovers from the night before plus the windchill was in negative double digits) we had a BLAST. Her partner is something of a karaoke phenomenon in Chicago and blew away the other people who meekly warbled lame George Michael and Elton John songs. Even though I got hit on by this really "handsy" guy that I didn't find attractive and the hottest guy in the room was straight (don't ask), it was the first time I actually enjoyed being at a bar on a karaoke night and easily the most fun I've ever had at a gay bar. M and I caught up and she kept telling me how "fucking cool it is that we're both gay". I can't say that I disagree. Finally, I have some gay friends to hang out with and we made plans to rage it tomorrow night. Should be a good time...
